THE ULTRASOUND OF LIFE is a 2.9GB, comprehensive, interactive fetal ultrasound – teaching program on DVD. It covers all aspects of normal and pathological conditions that exist in the fetus from the time of implantation until the time of delivery.

The program is written using HTML and XML (like the internet), which allows the user to easily navigate between pages of text, graphics, video clips, tables, graphs and differential diagnoses. It is a self-learning program that allows the user to research a condition and link to the various differential diagnoses. It is the linking nature of the program that makes it so versatile and user friendly.

The program is divided into 30 sections, which are linked to:
  • 1750 pages of text (which can be accessed from either a drop-down menu or a fully functional index)
  • Over 7500 graphic images (JPEG)
  • 186 high resolution video clips (.avi)
  • 89 tables
  • 72 graphs
  • an interactive quiz section containing 225 cases

An extensive list of references accompanies every normal and pathological condition that is presented on the disc.

The content of the program is derived from the authors experience and a review of over 15 journals covering Radiology, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Perinatology and Genetics.

The Ultrasound of Life is an ever-evolving project that is continually updated and improved as new images and video clips become available. The continually updated text allows the user to have current concepts and controversies immediately available. A new updated DVD is produced every 18-24 months.
